This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series Sheep Field Study

by Erich Worster

The patient had four stomachs and was perfectly healthy. A situation that would cause concern for most practitioners, and perhaps headlines in the tabloids, is perfectly normal for this practitioner. Because her patients are sheep!

Vickey Russell of Blue Dog Academy in Murrayville, GA, trains sheep dogs and got into shepherding so the dogs would have a flock to work. A portion of Vickey’s flock is participating in a study to see if Energetix remedies can reduce infection rates for some of the common parasites sheep encounter.

The flock will be separated into test groups and given homeopathic remedies that have been traditionally used for both water borne and soil borne parasites. The most common parasite is a round worm (Haemonchus Contortis) which colonizes the lining of the fourth stomach and causes severe anemia and eventual death.

A concern relative to this particular parasite is its increasing resistance to the current drug therapies. The hope is that a higher percentage of the flock will remain clear of the parasites when using the remedies. The test group will be screened regularly to check the color of their eyelids, as this has proven a reliable method for catching the early signs of anemia. Those showing symptoms of anemia will be treated using current drug therapies for parasites. This way none of the animals are at risk and the goal is to reduce the numbers needing drug intervention.

If the remedies prove effective no doubt new patients will be flocking in!

I am very interested in the results of this study! I deal with animals 80% of the time and have used energetix products for various ailments. The reasoning being first the quality of the product and then the ease of delivery–esp the liquid ones
    Please keep us informed

Will do! Thanks for the comment and for your interest in this study. It’s hard to forecast what will happen as so few studies of this type have been performed, but we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Vickey. She’s a remarkable woman and it’s a delight to see her handle the sheep and the sheep dogs with such care.
